International Ergonomics Association (IEA) developed this publication for Line Managers in industry to provide practical guidance on introducing HFE into their workplace. The authors are experienced practitioners from Colombia, Australia and USA who outline the key steps required to introduce successful programs at a company level including product developments and projects to address workplace injuries, performance and quality issues. Case studies are provided to illustrate how the practitioners assisted managers in implementing HFE in their business including the challenges of change management to ensure that all the stakeholders are engaged in the process.

Publishing practical guidance for professionals is only one part of bringing useful knowledge to a wider audience; presenting that work clearly can be just as important when seeking opportunities to publish.
Authors who have developed a manuscript or a specialised area of expertise may eventually need to introduce their work to an editor or literary agent in a concise and professional manner. That introduction needs to communicate what the work is about without attempting to reproduce the entire manuscript, while also giving the recipient a clear reason to consider it further.
Knowing how to write a query letter can therefore be an important step for authors moving from completing their work toward seeking publication, particularly when the subject requires enough context to demonstrate its value without becoming overly technical or lengthy.
A thoughtful submission can make the purpose of a manuscript easier to understand and establish the professional context needed for the next stage of the publishing process.
