It is with deep sadness that we report the death of Professor Martin Helander, President of the IEA from 1994-1997. His wife, Professor Halimahtun Mohd Khalid, kindly provided the picture below, which was taken on his 80th birthday last month. He died of long illness in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where they had lived and worked together.
