Paul Salmon is a Professor in Human Factors and is co-director of the CHFSTS at UniSC. Paul has over 22 years’ experience of applied Human Factors and safety research in areas such as road and rail safety, defence, sport and outdoor recreation, healthcare, workplace safety, and cybersecurity. His current research interests are focused on the application of Human Factors and Ergonomics to support the design of safe, ethical, and usable Artificial Intelligence (AI). Paul has authored 22 books, over 290 peer reviewed journal articles, and has held prestigious fellowships from the National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council. In 2020, 2021, and 2022 The Australian analysis of League of Scholars data and Google Scholar publications and citations identified Paul as the top Australian researcher in the field of quality and reliability, and the recent Stanford University World’s top scientists study placed him within the world’s top 2% of scientists.
