IEA Endorsed EventsHybrid one-day symposium on “Design Thinking in Informal Sectors” held at the University of Calcutta, India, on December 13, 2025, 9:30am IST, organized jointly by the Department of Physiology, University of Calcutta and the Indian Society of Ergonomics (ISE).
The Symposium will feature keynote presentations by three renowned faculty from eminent Indian universities that have agreed to present at this symposium, namely:
- Pranab K. Nag, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University, Kolkata, India
- Anindya K. Ganguli, ISE member, and Chair, IEA International Development Standing Committee
- Debkumar Chakrabarti, Ex-Professor, IIT Guwahati, and President, Indian Society of Ergonomics.
This event will be a gathering of HF/E and design researchers, practitioners, and students from across India with the focus on advancing the health, safety, and wellbeing of informal workers through implementation of ergonomics principles and user-centered design interventions. This event will be an opportunity for this diverse gathering to share experience and best practices in informal work.
As a hybrid event, this Symposium will provide an opportunity for participants to join from around the world, including our many Informal Work TC and IEA members that are interested in this topic of informal work.
Registration for the online option is at no cost; only the in-person attendance option will incur a nominal registration fee. All registered attendees, in-person and online, will be eligible for a certificate of participation issued by the host organizers. Presentations will be recorded and shared online later.
