Dear Members of the Global IEA Human Factors and Ergonomics Community,

Greetings from IEA in this year of unexpected events and challenges.  The IEA Officers and Executive Committee Members hope that you, your families, and your members are staying safe and healthy.

The IEA Member Societies met the challenges of 2020 and responded with courage and creativity. Please check https://iea.cc/blog/  and https://iea.cc/iea-societies-respond-to-coronavirus-pandemic/  to read about how societies supported their members, regions, institutions, and governments to deal with the negative impacts of COVID19. These pages also contain resources for you – for example, Japan Ergonomics Society created a set of 7 tips for working and learning from home, and is making their template available for translation and publication by all IEA Societies.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

2020 IEA Council Meeting.

Please mark your calendar for a virtual IEA Council meeting – 20 October, 2020.

Regretfully – because of the uncertainty of travel restrictions during the COVID19 pandemic, we will not be able to have an on-site Council meeting this year. However, according to IEA Bylaws and Swiss regulations, we are required to hold an annual Council meeting.  So -we are making plans to hold a shortened virtual meeting using conferencing software. This will enable us to inform you about EC activities and to conduct any necessary voting or other business.  Of course it is not the best way for us to meet with each other – no Council dinner and no wonderful special events ?– but it is a temporary solution.  More details will be sent to you later. Please make sure that we have the correct contact information for your IEA Representatives so they will receive all of the reports and other documents. The current contact information for your society can be accessed at:  https://iea.cc/member-societies-networks/federated-societies/

Please take a look and let us know if the contact information is correct and whether you have any other changes or updates to your information.  Send updates to Lynn Strother at secretariat@iea.cc

Call for Proposals to host IEA2027

We are accepting proposals to host IEA2027, the IEA Triennial Congress.  Please contact Lynn Strother, secretariat@iea.cc, for information and the proposal application.

Award deadlines

The due date for the IEA/Kingfar award and the IEA/Tsinghua award is postponed to the year end – December 31, 2020. We have not received many applications for these awards – most probably because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The awards are open to all. Please pass the information to your members.
